Member Highlight

MIAT was founded in 1969 as an Aviation Technician school.  Over many years, more and more of our graduates were being hired by energy or power related companies because of the professional and technical skills required to work in the professional field of Aviation. Eventually, several local, regional, and national energy-related companies asked MIAT to establish a program just for the energy industry. With their help and support, the Power Technology Institute was started in 2006. It was created to fill the need of qualified technicians in the energy industry.

The wind portion of the Power Technician program encompasses general training and the advanced portion of training includes systems, operations, advanced electrical, and troubleshooting skills. Our graduates receive multiple company and/or industry recognized certifications during their training. There are over 1000 students enrolled at MIAT.  Approximately 400 of them are in the Power Technician program.
