Regional Wind Development Requirements

Developers must satisfy numerous permitting requirements before a single wind turbine may be installed.  This step is complicated because different regions of the US, even different regions of each state, require different permits.  The Wind Alliance is working with member Universities’ law schools to create and publish a set of permitting requirements, by region, within each state of the US wind corridor.  This document will be unique in that it will rate regions based on speed and cost to accomplish permitting.  The first two states analyzed, Texas and Iowa, are estimated to be ready for publishing by November 1st.  Once these two states are proved and complete, the template will be used to analyze the rest of the states within the wind corridor.
