Samuel Holmes joined Shell in 1991 after receiving his General Engineering (Electrical Specialty) from the Colorado School of Mines.  During his first 10 years with Shell, Samuel designed, built and supported electrical and control systems at various Shell Pipeline facilities in New Orleans and across the US.    For the next four years, Samuel was a Business Development Manager for Shell Pipeline and was responsible for developing new pipeline business activities onshore and offshore in the Gulf of Mexico region.  Samuel spent six years as the Technical Supervisor for the Shell’s 24x7 pipeline control center.    During that time, he also served as a part of the API Cybernetics subcommittee, where he participated in the development of the first API’s first recommended practice for SCADA security document, API 1164.

Since 2008, Samuel has been the Technology Manager for Shell WindEnergy Inc.  He is responsible for providing guidance and support on efforts to improve reliability of existing wind farms.  He also assesses and provides guidance to business development on the application of new technology (wind turbine generators, energy storage, substations and other BOP equipment). 

Samuel lives in Houston with his wife, Denita and two boys, Tommie and Samuel.  He spends most of his free time coaching little league sports with Katy Youth Football and Katy Youth Basketball.  In addition, he volunteers his time with the DoWork Foundation, and the Watch D.O.G.S. program at his son’s elementary school.
