Alliance Accomplishments




The Wind Alliance was officially established on May 5, 2009.  The following accomplishments were achieved during the first year.

  1. Formation of 501(c)(3) – May 2009

  2. Establishment of internal infrastructure and operations
    1. Accounting system (QuickBooks for Non-Profits)
    2. Database system (ACT!)
    3. Payroll system (Alliance)
    4. Filing system (hard files exist for each member as well as each accounts payable vendor)
    5. Phone system (dedicated 866 and 713 numbers that are answered from 9am-5pm)
    6. On-line donation system (Google check-out)

  3. Deployment of marketing program
    1. Robust website and secure members’ portal (www.thewindalliance.org)
    2. Social media launch (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn)
    3. Monthly newsletters
    4. Video/Commercial
    5. Tradeshow booth, banner and marketing material
    6. Presentations and speaking events
    7. Employees attended multiple conferences and events
    8. Logo, letterhead, business cards and fliers
    9. Web advertising and Google grants (application submitted)

  4. Development of membership
    1. Created membership and operating agreements
    2. 47 new members

  5. Planning and execution of members’ meetings
    1. Complete: Houston, Texas — October 2009
    2. Complete: Naval Station Ingleside/ Corpus Christi, Texas — March 2010
    3. Upcoming: Albuquerque, New Mexico — November 2010
    4. Upcoming: Iowa City, Iowa — March 2011

  6. Formation of subject area committees
    1. Technology, workforce, and infrastructure
    2. Chair and co-chair for each committee are assigned and active
    3. Initiatives in progress
      1. Development of industry safety standards
      2. Development of a permitting and infrastructure grading system for each state
      3. Creation of a community outreach program for kindergarten through 12th grade

  7. Development of a portfolio of projects
    1. Large Blade Testing Facility, with University of Houston System
    2. National Institute for Renewable Energy (NIRE), with Innovate Texas and Texas Tech System
    3. Naval Station Ingleside, with Texas General Land Office and Texas A&M System
    4. Texas Wind Energy Institute, with Texas Workforce Commission and Texas State Technical College
